Handel, Water Music Suite No.1
Mozart, Concert Rondo in B flat major K269
Vivaldi, Concerto alla Rustica
Mozart, Symphony No.29
Handel’s Water Music starts things off in dramatic fashion. Written for an outdoor performance for King George I on the River Thames, the piece is suitably grand, vivid and packed with catchy and famous tunes, able to hold its own in an outdoor setting fit for a King.
Vivaldi’s Concerto alla rustica is one of the composer’s best-known concertos, famed for its playful nature characteristic in much of Vivaldi’s work. This playful and impassioned writing also spills over into Mozart’s Concert Rondo in B flat major K269, a show-stopping violin solo from Sinfonia Viva’s Leader Benedict Holland. While Mozart’s landmark piece Symphony No.29, seduces with an incredibly personal tone and a fiery and intensely impulsive manner.
