Future Project with Britten Sinfonia in Norwich
Orchestras Live, Norwich City Council and the Britten Sinfonia have been working on a project bringing together different musical genres and performance styles. The project aims to develop participation and engagement with professional orchestral music by involving groups of young people who would not normally be involved, and at the same time broaden the repertoire of young orchestral students with a view of each group learning from the other, facilitated by a professional orchestra and workshop leaders.
The project also involves young music technology students attending Future Projects and The Garage. In order to complete the mix, students with orchestral music experience via the County Youth Orchestra were invited to join the project.
The project is now underway, with the participants working towards a performance in April 2011 at the Theatre Royal in Norwich.
