A 2020 Vision for Chamber Orchestras

Orchestras Live has contributed to the publication of the Association of British Orchestras (ABO) publication 'A 2020 Vision for Chamber Orchestras'. We support the five aims of that vision, which are:

  • To have challenged preconceptions about orchestras and orchestral music
  • To have increased the role of orchestras as cultural ambassadors within the UK and abroad
  • To have given communities in more villages, towns and counties the opportunity to experience a live performance
  • To have given more children the opportunity to learn, engage and participate with orchestras in education, community and outreach projects
  • To lead the world in commissioning and performing new music

The publication includes sections on Creative Programming, International Presence, Flexibility and Reach and Promoting Participation. There is also a section on Delivering in Partnership, written by Orchestras Live's Chief Executive, Henry Little.
