Mechanical Advantage

Presented by Sinfonia Viva, in partnership with Orchestras Live, Rolls-Royce and Derbyshire Music Education Hub, Mechanical Advantage features new music created by students from Becket Primary School, Firs Estate Primary School, Chellaston Academy and Derby College. Inspired by Derby’s industrial heritage, and recent work with Rolls-Royce STEM Ambassadors, the music tells the story of the everyday machines that make our lives that bit easier, and the science behind them.

Chelmsford First Time Live: The Nature of Beauty

Students at six schools in Chelmsford are collaborating with professional composer John K Miles, conductor Jessica Cottis and City of London Sinfonia, one of Britain’s leading professional orchestras.

Sound Around, a large-scale inclusive touring programme promoted and produced by Orchestras Live aimed at engaging young people with orchestral music, gets well underway this month as 8 musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) visit special schools in Sunderland, Northampton and Doncaster to deliver fun, interactive performances.
