Lullaby Concerts 2017 – Mission complete

Back in October, we brought the brilliant City of London Sinfonia and charismatic presenter Claire Henry to venues across Essex and Suffolk to perform our Mission to Launch Lullaby Concerts for young audiences and their families.

Throughout September and October 2017, the following activity took place:

  • 19 taster workshops were held at 11 nursery and community settings in 5 districts, involving 314 children, 17 practitioners and 131 parents.
  • 12 Lullaby Concerts were performed by CLS over 6 days, attended by 1,180 children and adults.
  • 6 young musicians took part in the concerts alongside the orchestra.

The project had very positive outcomes. Some 1,648 people engaged with the project as participants or audiences, and the response at all events was extremely positive.

“What a fantastic way to introduce young children to music, the instruments and vocabulary – amazing!” (audience member, Rayleigh)

“We are still talking about it almost a week later. It really inspired my little boy to listen to music and tell us what it makes him think of.” (online audience survey)

“I felt honoured and proud to be involved…..with Orchestras Live I felt I was out in the public, promoting a positive message on diversity.” (Ruth Montgomery, assistant music leader)

“I really enjoyed the experience, getting the opportunity to perform alongside professional musicians gave a tremendous insight into what being a musician entails.” (Isaac, young musician)

“Orchestras Live leads the way nationally in inclusive and accessible approaches to orchestral music.” (Charly Richardson, Essex Music Services)
