Sound Sensations in Colchester
Following our first relaxed concert at Ketting in July, Sinfonia Viva will be holding two more relaxed concerts next month at Colchester Arts Centre on Sunday 18 October 2015 at 11am and 1.30pm.
Designed for families with children with disabilities and additional needs including those on the autistic spectrum and those with sensory and communication difficulties or a learning disability, the relaxed concerts will be presented by James Redwood and include well known classical pieces as well as songs and other music in which the audience can participate.
Students from Lexden Springs School will also be performing a new piece they have created together with Sinfonia Viva.
The relaxed nature of the concert means all members of the audience (including parents and carers) can move around, respond to the music and take part without worrying about disturbing other people with involuntary noise, which could be the case in more conventional performances.
Two concerts are being held, each lasting around 75 minutes with no interval. The venue is fully accessible, and there will be a chill-out area in case anyone needs to take some time out during the performance.
This project is being produced by Orchestras Live in partnership with Sinfonia Viva, Colchester Arts Centre, Essex Cultural Development and Essex Music Hub with support from Arts Council England and The Thistle Trust.
