On Saturday 6 March 2021, Orchestras Live CEO Sarah Derbyshire featured on BBC Radio 3's Music Matters programme, introducing our Orchestras in Healthcare report in collaboration with the Association of British Orchestras and City of London Sinfonia.
Sarah features alongside a preview of the 2021 Association of British Orchestras conference "Aftershock" by its Director Mark Pemberton, and Vanessa Reed of New Music USA on programming new and underrepresented voices.
It is clear from the report that this is the moment when we should step up a gear. We recommend a joint endeavour between the music, health and caring professions delivering the healing power of creativity that music affords, benefitting the wellbeing of us all.

Sarah Derbyshire will be joined by City of London Sinfonia CEO, Matthew Swann, to chair a specialist panel for a session 'A Healthier Nation' (Thursday 11 March, 2pm) at this year's ABO conference, building on last year’s conference session and the first comprehensive survey of UK orchestras’ work in the health and social care sectors, to look at the implications for the ‘social prescribing’ agenda and the role orchestras can play to restore the health and wellbeing of the nation.
