Sounds of Withernsea film premiere
NewsNews Story
Sounds of Withernsea has been created as part of our Classically Yours project in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The film includes new piece 'Unlocked Voices' created by residents of Withernsea reflecting on their experiences of the first lockdown in 2020, in partnership with Manchester Camerata.
The film has been recorded by Manchester Camerara and Withernsea Ladies Choir, and will premiere at 8pm on Wednesday 9 December below and on the Classically Yours Facebook page.
I’ve really enjoyed being in touch with professional musicians, that’s been a delight for me and of course I’ve loved joining in with other people from Withernsea to sing together. That’s been wonderful.

As lockdown hit back in March 2020, our Classically Yours project was stopped in its tracks. As it became clear that it was unlikely the orchestras would be able to physically visit the East Riding again this year, we began discussing how we could continue to work with local communities and bring people together to make music through Unlocked Voices with Manchester Camerata. Eight months later and residents of East Riding have enjoyed a whole host of virtual music making activities that have maintained their much valued creative exchange with orchestral musicians.
Our project is needed now more than ever to combat the loneliness and isolation brought about by the covid-19 pandemic.
