Last month the London Mozart Players inspired 275 young children attending an open rehearsal and worked with 80 young musicians in a coaching workshop as part of a two-day residency in North Norfolk. Senior Creative Producer Stuart Bruce reflects on the activity...
The latest event in the concert series produced by Orchestras Live in partnership with North Norfolk District Council and Norfolk Music Education Hub involved a stunning concert by London Mozart Players in the intimate setting of the Auden Theatre, Holt. Each concert in the series is surrounded with activity in which professional players share their skills and experience with local young people, helping to inspire the next generation of musicians.
"It was really lovely to come to the concert on Friday. My daughter was so impressed with the musicians; at one point she turned and looked at me and just mouthed the word ‘wow’! I’m hoping she will be more inspired to practise."Parent of young participant
On this occasion, 275 children from 8 primary schools attended the orchestra’s afternoon rehearsal, with one lucky young horn player getting some one-to-one advice from soloist Ben Goldscheider, and there were plenty of young people in the audience for the evening concert too. Furthermore, three members of London Mozart Players stayed over to help coach 80 young instrumentalists in a day of workshops led by Norfolk Music Service. Across the two days, several hundred young people took part and were inspired by the visiting professionals.
