Orchestras Live is pleased to welcome Aruna Chaudhuri to her new role as Communications Officer.
Aruna is a London-based singer, communications specialist, and live events professional. Having worked across corporate PR, music festivals, and music charities, she brings a unique background tied together by her ongoing passion for diversity and inclusion.
Growing up in Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, Aruna was deeply influenced by the music that surrounded her at home. Aged 18, she moved to London to pursue two subjects she has always been drawn to – first completing a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature, followed by a Master’s degree in Popular Music Practice.
This year, Aruna worked on Glastonbury Festival’s first South Asian stage (Azaadi), promoted the music industry’s first official survey capturing South Asian experiences, liaised with a diverse roster of artists at the London Jazz Festival, and even promoted her own live music night, showcasing four up-and-coming female artists at Folklore, London.
In her own time, Aruna teaches singing to both children and adults, striving to make music education accessible for all. Through her teaching, she has seen firsthand the impact that music can have on people from all walks of life.
As a singer and songwriter, Aruna also loves to create music herself and regularly releases her own songs.
Passionate about her South Asian heritage, Aruna hopes to help shape a world where we not only see more diversity within the arts, but one where everyone is able to access the truly life-changing experiences that music can offer.
